Some of the enduring themes in Eqbal Ahmad’s work are his vast knowledge, lucid communication and an inspiring critical analysis. Here is a wonderful example of these themes in Eqbal Ahmad’s critique of Samuel Huntingdon and his essay ‘The Clash of Civilisations?’

how we found the article:

A while back a page friend got in contact and asked if we had any references to Eqbal Ahmad responding to Samuel Huntingdon's infamous essay 'The Clash of Civilisations ?' . So we were delighted when we came across this journal article - THE CLASH OF CIVILIZATIONS: A CRITICAL ANALYSIS by Eqbal Ahmad**

From the article:

“..But, more seriously, Huntingdon does not meet what one would consider the absolute minimum canons of scholarship, that is to say, historical historicity, accuracy of facts and consistency of argument..”

Here is the "case suggestion write-up" on scholar/activist Eqbal Ahmad. Thanks to Tom Wood@EThomasWood for passing on this archive excerpt he recently unearthed on Eqbal Ahmad and the Cointelpro investigation started on him. " If investigation abroad so justifies, it is suggested that consideration be given to intensifying our investigation of the subject to include the establishment of sources or informants close to him." https://oldnewstom.files.wordpress.com/2019/06/1971_1jan_12-eqbalahmad_investig_suggestion-doci_sw.pdf

Additional Notes
Tom notes he was researching today on the unredacted FBI COINTELPRO docs that seem to have been inadvertently released in the past two years among JFK records at NARA (https://www.archives.gov/research/jfk/processing-project)

We hope to look into this aspect of Eqbal's life and career further but we now conclude with Tom's reply on twitter to the page:

Thanks, @Eqbal_FBFanPage. I'm an ex-journalist and occasional historian with interests in military history and civil rights. I had not heard of Mr. Ahmad but now admire his accomplishments. The FBI doc just struck me as a good example of how police power goes awry.
